The popular NetSuite Certification program is bigger and better than ever. If you haven’t achieved a certification yet, or you want to secure additional certifications, there’s never been a better time to get started. As part of our 2018 Grow Series, we’ll provide some tips to help you become NetSuite certified.
Since its founding in 2013, the NetSuite Certification program has certified more than 4,000 individuals who have the knowledge and skills to capably utilize NetSuite in a variety of roles. The program has grown rapidly to offer seven exam-based certifications, including new Financial User and SuiteAnalytics User certifications for end users.
Why get certified? NetSuite certification delivers benefits for individuals, companies and NetSuite partners.
Individuals. Improve your career prospects as employers increasingly seek validation of NetSuite skills. You become part of an elite NetSuite professional network and receive certification logos for use on your website or business cards. Plus, you can get a 30 percent discount on dozens of scheduled NetSuite training courses.
Customer organizations. Ensure your staff has the best-practice knowledge and skills to maximize ROI from your NetSuite investment. Gain new confidence in your recruitment, hiring and promotions when you evaluate prospects and employees by a recognized benchmark. Plus, you minimize the risk of error by an unqualified individual, and enjoy training discounts for NetSuite certified personnel.
Partners. Solution Providers and Alliance Partners enhance marketability as prospects and customers demand evidence of a partner’s NetSuite expertise. SuiteCloud Developer Network partners help ensure that developers can quickly build SuiteApps that meet criteria of the ‘Built for NetSuite’ validation program. All partners are eligible for discounted training for NetSuite certified employees.
“Certifications are a great way to set measurable, verifiable goals for our consultants and a great way to let our clients know they are working with experienced, capable advisors. Certifications give prospects and clients confidence to move forward with their NetSuite projects,” said Matt Kenney, National NetSuite Leader at RSM US LLP.
"The NetSuite Certification program has been of great value to us,” said Mark Rhyman, Co-CEO and Chief Business Development Officer at Big Bang ERP. “Not only has it brought credibility to our company and team in the eyes of our customers, it has also helped our staff boost their knowledge of the solution, keep up to date with new releases and increase the self-confidence of the employees.”
If you’re ready to get started on certification, these four tips can help put you on the fast track to success:
Step 1: Select the Certification That’s Right For You
Seven NetSuite certifications are available for administrators, developers, consultants and end users. As outlined on our certification site, five certifications are offered in the administrator path:
SuiteFoundation: Base level certification for administrator, developer and consultant certifications.
Administrator: Day-to-day NetSuite application management and optimization.
SuiteCloud Developer: Solutions development and deployment to extend or customize NetSuite.
SuiteCommerce Developer: Solutions development for NetSuite Commerce applications.
ERP Consultant: Implementation, configuration and customization of NetSuite.
In addition, two new certifications are available for end users:
Financial User: Core accounting and finance functionality.
SuiteAnalytics User: Skills in NetSuite reporting, analytics and business intelligence.
Step 2: Train, Study and Practice
NetSuite offers rich resources to help you prepare for a certification exam. Each certification description outlines prerequisites and recommended training classes, including two-day courses that focus strictly on certification exam preparation.
You’ll also want to check out our in-depth study guides, such as the how-to guidance in our administrator certification study guide. Be sure to practice up in advance with sample tests before the actual exam.
Step 3: Research
Explore the FAQ section at our certification site for guidance on the exams, maintaining certification and more. Some simple Googling will unearth additional resources and perspectives on NetSuite certification valuable for your preparation. You’ll find a half-dozen NetSuite Certified LinkedIn groups, though some limit membership to those already certified.
Look to connect with certified NetSuite professionals to learn from their experience and take the opportunity to meet with the NetSuite Certification program team at SuiteWorld 2018!
Step 4: Register and Test Your Knowledge!
When you’re ready to take your exam, you have several options: You can sign up for an in-person exam at a testing center run by Kryterion, a NetSuite contractor. You can take an online proctored exam, also managed by Kryterion. Or you can take the test at SuiteWorld 2018 Pre-Event Training. There you can take training courses, prep classes and a certification test April 22-23, before the main SuiteWorld event gets under way.
Once you’ve completed the exam, you’ll know your pass or fail results immediately. Annual recertification by a quiz is required for all except for the Financial User and SuiteAnalytics User certifications.
